Green Flag Community Award - 2012/2013

We are really delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing the Green Flag Community Award for the park again this year.

This is a similar award  to the Blue Flag awards for beaches but recognises the standards overall of the Green Space. The judge was very impressed and enjoyed his visit around the site. We are the ony park in the South East area of Sheffield to achieve this and we are immensely proud !

Green Flag Celebrations

To recognise this award we held a mini celebration with a Year 3 class from Charnock Hall Primary School on Thursday 27th September at the park. We decorated the notice board and fencing with balloons and invited along Councillor Bryan Lodge whom attended alongside CouncillorDenise Fox.

Bryan officially gave the Green Flag to the Friends group to go in the notice board as well as a poster certificate.  This was as well as a little speech to the children thanking them for their help in keeping the park looking good by picking up litter, using bins, not taking part in vandalism or graffiti, and thanking the Friends group for their efforts to help look after the park.

As usual all the 23 children were very well behaved and listened well to the talk, before having a play on the equipment. Afterwards they were offered a lollipop by the group to take home after school as a Thankyou from the Friends for their respect towards the park.
