MUGA Launch Event
On Saturday 19th March 2016 the park was a hive of activity as celebrations took place to officially open our new Multi Use Games Arena (MUGA.)
Activity Sheffield provided a Climbing Tower and an adult size Obstacle Course along with instructors who were on hand to give sports coaching in the new facilities. Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Denise Fox along with MP for Sheffield South East Mr Clive Betts officially cut the ribbon to open the MUGA and also presented the group with the Keep Britain Tidy Green Flag Community Award, which we have won for the 5th year in a row!
The Deputy Lord Mayor’s Consort Councillor Terry Fox was also in attendance along with councillors Mr Bryan Lodge and Ms Karen Mcgowan.
The group manned a fund raising stall with a raffle and hook a duck which raised £75.75 for the park.
The building of the MUGA was only possible due to the funding received from our amazing supporters as follows:
- Viridor Credits: £66,376
- Friends of Charnock Rec: £11,213
- Church Burgesses Trust: £2,000
- Community First Award: £2,000
- J G Graves Charitable Trust: £1,500
- AMEY: £250
Around 400 people came to the event, and we would like to thank everyone who helped to make the celebrations so successful.
